Harry Potter Themed Reading Nook Reveal

Well, now that I've shared so many wonderful shops with you,
it's time for the conclusion of my
Teach Them to Love Harry Potter Giveaway
and that means the reveal
of our Harry Potter themed reading nook!

Before I started on this project,
the space in question was really quite sad looking.
Old photos, a broken and dusty bookshelf,
a dog food bin,
empty, old decanters from my mother in law,
and chewed up dog toys...
That was it.

A nice big space of our house
was being utterly wasted
and neglected as we walked around it each day,
never using it at all.

So I painted,
and collected,
and crafted,
and organized,
and worked,
and envisioned,
and created...

And finally,
the space became something beautiful-
A Harry Potter themed reading nook for Svea!

It came out JUST as I hoped it would!

I got rid of the off-white dirty walls
and painted fresh gray and white coats to lighten the space.
I also painted the bookshelf and fixed the broken shelf.
Pappa Bear and I created a Harry Potter wall decor piece
and painted spice racks from IKEA as wall shelves.
I created a canopy from cheap curtains from IKEA
and I filled the old decanters with food colored water
to give them a potions class feel!

Svea nestled right in when I showed her the finished area
and she hasn't stopped reading all of her books since!
I'd rather clean up piles of books than piles of toys any day!
I'm so excited that she has a space just to encourage her to
find joy in reading.

(Harry Potter Peg Dolls: Landon's Toy Box, Sirius Black Dog Doll: Cutie Kat Kat, Harry Potter Watercolor Painting: Peanut Brittle Art, "Choices" Print: Simply Sweet Prints
"Light" Print: Oh Lovely Day,  Harry Potter Mobile: Tulsa Toys, Gold Harry Potter Wall Decor: A Pretty Life Shop, Wand: Party Sydsy)

All of the Harry Potter touches will someday come to life
as I read Harry Potter with her for the very first time.

They will serve as a reminder to her that if there was a boy who lived,
anything is possible.

Of course I had to have my Harry Potter books on the shelf,
and even though they have been through the wringer,
and they aren't very pretty
(one was chewed up by my friend's dog),
they are the books that taught me to love reading.
